This work is made up of a series of individual modules, each containing programmed motors which mobilize the sea grass attached to them. The controlling program is designed to have each module/grass blade move as though a wind was blowing through, just as at the beach. As a result, each module behaves independently of the others creating slightly different movements at each module and at just barely different times. I was amazed at how accurately Wolfe captured the feel of being at the beach both from the reality of the movement and the sound that the moving grass creates. There are gentle breezes and rustling that might be followed by a more intense "wind". It appears that I was not the only one impressed by the works. The gallery recently told me that four museums are interested in obtaining one in the series (there are 10).
