Paul began as a painter and made drawings before turning to sculpture. She feels that drawings are important and critical to appreciating and understanding form. Her sculptures often include and reference the line. This series utilizes found oven and refrigerator shelves as the underpinnings of weavings. She likes using what she refers to as impoverished materials, frequently found, and using them as a starting point for her works. Some in this series are nearly figurative images while others are quite abstract. She was included in the recent “Unorthodox” exhibition at the Jewish Museum in New York.
